Rhea Dennis: Explorations in Handmade Paper
Two series: Third Day and Planting the Seed
As I begin to work I have no preconceived idea. I let the pulp guide me. The images and colors flow on to the wet pulp. I enjoy the imperfections and “happy mistakes” that occur when working in this medium. My images come from nature and my childhood. I am also greatly influenced by the spontaneity and innocence of children. Rhea Dennis

Rhea Dennis graduated from the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts). She began her career as an illustrator and package designer. She worked as a staff artist for WPVI TV and freelanced as a designer and illustrator of children’s book art.
Rhea found herself drawn to the medium of papermaking when her youngest daughter took a class in it, and considers that she is fortunate to have learned it from a painter’s point of view.
Rhea is a member of the Paper Guild, Third Street Gallery, No Name Art Group and the KI Artists’ Collaborative* and exhibits regularly. She teaches preschool at Keneseth Israel. (Photo)
