What is Shelanu?
Shelanu is Hebrew for "our," as in "Our KI…For today and tomorrow".  It is the official name of our congregation's Endowment Campaign, which launched in Fall 2010.  Together we will keep KI strong

Shelanu Campaign Attracts Support for Varied Reasons;
 Campaign Reaches New Levels

KI’s Shelanu Campaign continues to on the move! Response from the congregation has been very supportive as we near the $2 million mark with pledges and testamentary gifts!

One of the more interesting aspects of the campaign has been learning the many ways that KI has touched the lives of our members and how that has impacted on their decision to participate in the Shelanu Campaign.

Here are a few of the most compelling stories:

A long time member tells us: “My Bar Mitzvah was at KI as were the B’nai Mitzvot of my children and my grandchildren. My children were married at KI. KI has been there at every significant moment in my life so how could I not participate in this campaign? We need to insure that KI is strong, both now and for generations to come.”

A congregant who has only been a member of KI for a few years relates: “Recently we suffered the loss of a family member. The response from the clergy and members of the KI community was amazing and was instrumental in making those horrible days bearable. I did not really understand the concept of community until this sad time in our lives. I am participating in the Shelanu Campaign in appreciation for what KI has meant to my family.”

As the campaign continues to build the endowment for KI, we will continue to share stories about why members of our community have made their decisions to participate.
