“Love Your Neighbor as Yourself”
WHERE TO START?
The programs and committees within KI can keep people of all ages busy, stimulated and involved. Bring a friend or meet new people. Learn something new or just come for some fun! Information about all of our activities is always available in KI's Bulletin or in the office.
Couples with young children find KI to have an active, child-friendly atmosphere, filled with groups, services and programs tailored to their special interests. Our empty-nesters and senior members find countless programming choices as well. And college kids are kept connected through our College Connection Committee, which is piloting a program to help prepare our students for Jewish life on campus and to keep them in touch with their synagogue at home when they are far from home.
WE OFFER:
BROTHERHOOD - Our
mission is to engage in projects and activities that will provide
meaningful services to our congregation and allow our members to find
greater identity, involvement and inspiration.
One of the best things about Brotherhood is the camaraderie: simply
getting together each month to discuss the events at KI, to share a few
laughs, and to plan upcoming programs. Our Brotherhood is a member of
MRJ – Men of Reform Judaism,
a nationwide organization of 250 affiliated brotherhoods.
Our active Brotherhood hosts programs including Sunday brunches, guest speakers, Brotherhood Shabbat, special mitzvah projects and much more.
In addition to supporting KI programming, Brotherhood works with
the Jewish Chautauqua Society to provide knowledge and education about
Jews and Judaism, to bring about an appreciation of the Jewish people,
their history, religion, and culture, and to build bridges of
understanding between peoples of all faiths and cultures.'

ISRAEL COMMITTEE - Focused on developing support for Israel in our congregation, the Israel Committee sponsors programs and educational initiatives. This committee also seeks to involve our synagogue in Pro-Israel community events and connects us to national efforts on behalf of the Jewish State.
KI CULTURAL COUNCIL 60+ - Members who are 60 or older gather each month for a lovely afternoon of camaraderie, lunch and a stimulating program.
TORAH RELIGIOUS PRACTICES COMMITTEE - This group reviews the
many aspects of the worship services and, working in cooperation with
the Rabbis and Cantor, makes policy recommendations to the Board of
Trustees. The Sacred Music Committee is an active subcommittee of this group.
LIBRARY COMMITTEE - A network of dedicated volunteers staff our Meyers Library and help determine acquisition policies for our vast and growing collection.
OUTREACH COMMITTEE - This committee deals with the needs and concerns of our multi-heritage families. We create an environment for Jews by Choice and Jews by Birth and their families to share ideas and learn about the customs and traditions of Judaism.

Brochure created March 2009. RELIGIOUS SCHOOL COMMITTEE - In hands-on cooperation with the Director of Religious Education, this committee reviews the Religious School curriculum and provides advisory input on school policies.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - New members are our future. The Membership Committee works to create various special programs, such as prospective member events or a new member Shabbat, to welcome individuals and families interested in joining KI. Providing mentors for new members and helping to integrate them into the daily life of the congregation are some of the committee's important goals.
SHARING IS CARING - Hands-on, dedicated volunteers work together to help the community's needy in ways that go far beyond financial donations. Although the committee does disburse funds from the many donations received, volunteers also cook hundreds of meals annually for the homeless, help prepare our annual Hanukkah dinner for seniors and collect non-perishable food items to be distributed to area homeless shelters. Members of this committee connect to each other in unity of purpose while making a real difference in the lives of the needy.
SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE -This
group sponsors projects throughout the year to help the hungry, needy
and otherwise disadvantaged of our immediate community. The group also
brings national and international issues of social justice to the
attention of the congregation through articles, forums and other
presentations. New members are always welcome to join the committee.
USHERS CORPS - These volunteers greet guests at worship services and other special occasions, oversee the general decorum and are participants in KI's medical safety program.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE - Parents join with the Youth Activities Director and Assistant Rabbi
Kevin Kleiman to help plan and implement the programming of KI's Federation of Temple Youth (KIFTY), the busiest and most active youth program in the entire community.
