MUSIC AT KI AND YOU
Our programs are designed to be varied, intergenerational, and of
interest to all members of our community.
The Sacred Music Program, under the guidance of Cantor Amy Lefko and
chaired by Sonnie Katz, is designed to enhance the religious experience
at KI. Sacred music is at the core of worship. It must be respectful of
tradition, and, at the same time, participatory, warm and accessible. If
you are a KI member and would like to participate in adult or youth
choir activities, please contact Cantor Lefko at (215) 887-8702.
Our Music Arts Program is an invitation to the greater community to come
here to experience the joy of music. Volunteers are always needed to
help plan, publicize, produce and actually run musical and related
dining events at KI. If you want to sponsor a program perhaps in honor
of a relative or friend or in recognition of a special event or in
memory of a loved one the cost is modest and the community benefit is
great. If you are a business leader who wants to sponsor a program in
the name of your business, with all of the attendant publicity, we would
like to encourage you to become a program sponsor. If you are interested
in program sponsorship, or are available and interested in the mitzvah
of volunteer service in support of the program, please contact the Music
Arts Committee. You can reach the Music Arts Committee through the KI
main office at (215) 887-8700 or by calling the Music Arts Committee
Chairperson, Mrs. Ellen Bildersee, at (215) 947-5131.
MISSION STATEMENT OF THE MUSIC ARTS
We are committed to offering an appropriate complement to the broad
spectrum of worship, learning and shared cultural experiences that are
the essence of our congregational family and the most noble universal
aspects of our extended community.
We are committed to presenting world-class talent in musical
performances that enhance the appreciation of music of all kinds, and
that bring the joy of music to our constituency.
We are committed to serving our constituency by bringing these musical
experiences to this accommodating and sacred venue, sharing the
convenience of our location and our facilities with those who might be
unable or unlikely to enjoy these musical events, were they not offered
here.
We are committed to producing programs that are intended to appeal to a
broad spectrum of ages and tastes, so that a truly inter-generational
experience may be shared and enjoyed.
We are committed to providing a special and extraordinary welcoming
venue to those especially talented and generous performers who are
willing to share their unique skills with our congregants and our
greater community.
We are committed to making the joy of music eminently affordable, while
at the same time providing meaningful financial support to our believed
Synagogue.
We understand that the human spirit and the human experience are
immeasurably enriched by the beauty of art that, in its many forms,
including music, transcends all differences among individuals, and, in
so doing, offers a true uplifting of the spirit.
