HISTORY

Richard E. Rudolph Jr. Preschool of Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel was started in 1957. Today we are a PA State Licensed Preschool providing care from infants to Pre K aged children.  We are a small school with approximately sixty five to seventy families. Our small size enables us to have a close and nurturing environment. Our goal is that parents, children and teachers work together to create a connection between school and home. Parent’s feedback and input assist us in providing a place that is stimulating and exciting for all. Each day we want to see your children running eagerly into class excited and ready for a fun filled day. We are also very fortunate to have a team of clergy who are available each Friday for our morning Tot Shabbats, Havdallah Mondays, life cycle events and education.

PHILOSOPHY

Our program is based on the philosophy that a school must meet the developmental needs of the “whole” child. Our program provides a basic foundation for your child’s education and instills a love of learning.  We provide many opportunities for success through self and teacher directed activities.  A happy experience is our number one mission each and everyday. Through positive values of kindness, teamwork, respect of people, nature and Judaism we work hard to promote a feeling of community and a love of learning. While our school is a Jewish oriented school, we are open to all children regardless of race, religion or nationality, who may benefit from our wonderful program

CURRICULUM

Our highly qualified teaching staff develops activities that enhance physical, social, cognitive and emotional needs of the children. Through play and teacher facilitated activites we create a day filled with experiential and tactile learning. You never know where the learning will take place. That “aahhaa” moment can happen at anytime. In additional to learning concepts that enable a child to succeed we want children to feel their connection to Judaism. Learning about the holidays by reading in the Sukkah, making latkes, singing Jewish songs plus our Shabbat and Havdallah service are just a few examples which encourage a love for Judaism.

Professional, experienced, caring teachers work each day to provide the best experience possible for your child. They encourage children to explore and discover the wonderful world around them .Teachers work with the children to foster confidence and competence in developmentally appropriate classrooms through art, water and sand play, music, literature, expressive writing, science, cooking, dramatic play, trips and discussions. We respect each child’s unique individuality and encourage the importance of each child’s personality and abilities.

Our teachers are warm, nurturing and sensitive individuals. Faculty members are always available to discuss each child's educational, emotional, and developmental skills and achievements. On daily basis teachers provide each child with countless opportunities for learning indoors and outdoors. We strongly believe children learn outside and we spend time each day in our Discovery Garden Playground learning about nature, hearing a story, dancing to music or enjoying a snack. The entire staff participates in a continuous program of in-service, conferences and workshops related to education and studies for professional advancement. We do this to remain alert to the ever changing needs of today’s families and to the findings of current research.

PARENT PARTICIPATION

Parent Communication is very import-ant to us. Each week our teachers send home via email a newsletter letting you know what your children did during the week and any upcoming events. Each class has their own email but we still encourage you to communicate any issues or concerns verbally with your teachers. Each week you can also look at pictures of your child posted on Snapfish. It is an amazing treat to actually see what is happening throughout your child’s day.

Parents will be invited for special events during the school year. Some will be listed on your calendars. You will be notified of all events as they are added to the calendar throughout the year. We love when parents want to volunteer their time. We have an open door policy. However, we request that parents do not drop in to discuss issues while children are present. We encourage you to schedule an appointment to discuss any concerns that you may have. Please feel free to call the Director at all times.
