Sandra Jackman: CAUTIONARY TALES

Jackman’s work has been called visionary or surrealist and she is an artist who believes in preserving mystery and magic. The viewer is asked to experience her art as they would the reading of a poem. Over time the artist’s work, which began in assemblage, evolved into books, affording her the opportunity to layer images and bring a greater depth to each object. Sandra Jackman uses the forms of assemblage and book related art to communicate a personal take on a broad worldview.  The outgrowth of combining traditional book techniques with the broader latitude of assemblage media results in objects of multiple meanings and strong visual engagement for the viewer. CAUTIONARY TALES is an expression of a highly personal art form best suited to this artist’s love of story telling.
