Monday, April 4 10:30 a.m./ ARTISTIC RIVALS – MATISSE AND PICASSO w/ BAILA MILLER

Artistic rivals Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso redefined the visual arts at the beginning of the 20th century. Their experiments with color, subject matter, techniques, and ideas liberated artists who had been confined by traditional ideas of “How Art Should Look.” Because of their introduction to Freud, Psychology, and “Stream of Consciousness,” their imaginative works led the road to Modernism. Their rivalry expanded possibilities in all art forms: painting, music, literature, set design, and architecture.
