In the first three weeks in May (May 5th, 12th and 19th, we will be able to benefit from the insights of Evonne and Isaak Kruger with an exploration of some of the short stories and poems written by Grace Paley. Grace Paley (December 11, 1922 – August 22, 2007) was a [Jewish] American short story author, poet, teacher, and political activist. Paley wrote three critically acclaimed collections of short stories, which were compiled in the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist The Collected Stories in 1994.
The Grace Paley Series will look like this:
- Evonne will cover the Introduction to Grace Paley, outlining her multifaceted life and poetry.
- Isaak will review the very famous short story “Goodbye and Good Luck.” It is a perfect story for a liberated man.
- Evonne will do a second story (TBD) that will also have the Paley feminist “zing.”
We look forward to this fun, enlightening and interesting series of talks!
