From Alfred the Great, in the ninth century, to Elizabeth II today, 56 varied men and women have reigned as kings or queens of England. Some reigned in splendor, several were murdered, a few were executed, others shaped the culture of the world, and many served in obscurity. The institution of the monarchy is deeply ingrained in the British culture and their weddings, births, and tragedies have continued to fascinate the world. This is the captivating story of kings and queens of the British monarchy. Herb Kaufman has been a teacher, lecturer and living historian. He is a founding member of the faculty of the Civil War Institute and History Institute at Manor College and an Adjunct Instructor of history at Camden County College. He presents many informative and entertaining history programs to many organizations in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area.
