This presentation will discuss the afterlife, or influence of the infamous film, The Birth of a Nation, particularly its influence on the birth of the civil rights movement, based upon the books The Birth of a Movement: How Birth of a Nation Ignited the Battle for Civil Rights, by Dick Lehr and D. W. Griffith’s The Birth of a Nation: A History of the Most Controversial Motion Picture of all Time by Melvyn Stokes.
