Monday, August 1, 2022 10:30/ SOJOURNS AND SYNAGOGUES: MONGOLIA w/ KATHY KAPLAN

The historical Mongolian empire included synagogues and Jewish communities, and even today there are surprising Jewish connections in this remote country.  “Sojourns & Synagogues: Mongolia” showcases this history in the context of the vibrant culture, music and art of Mongolia

Kathy Kaplan has traveled widely and has won many travel fellowships, including a Fulbright Fellowship to India.  Kathy has presented her travelogue series, “Sojourns and Synagogues,” at the Katz JCC and Camden County College.  World Jewish communities and connections are an integral part of her travel presentations.

Kathy is a former School Media Specialist in Cherry Hill. Kathy lived in Israel for two years, and is a Hebrew speaker.  She has taught at various Hebrew Schools, most recently at Congregation Kesher Israel in Philadelphia, where she is a member.  Kathy is also a member of Shir Shalom, a secular Jewish humanist organization. Kathy is the Moderator of the Jewish Christian Muslim Dialogue of Southern New Jersey.
