Marcus Hayes graduated from Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1990 and wrote for that city’s papers for 5 years. He has been a sportswriter for 31 years, the last 26 in Philadelphia for the Daily News and Inquirer. He covered the Eagles and Phillies for 7 years each and has been a columnist for 11 years.  He won several national and state awards, but the experiences have meant more: attending Super Bowls, World Series, NBA and NHL Finals, Summer and Winter Olympic Games, Men’s and Women’s Final Fours, the Masters and U.S. Opens.
