Raise the Chair! A Hazak Celebration!

In order to celebrate Hazak* and, specifically, the project to name the Rabbinic Chair in honor of our Rabbi, Lance J. Sussman, the Temple Judea Museum has "Raised a Chair" in the Jewish tradition.  Members of the TJM/KI community accepted the museum's challenge to transform a chair into a fun and beautiful work of art.

Now  you can own one of these spectacular works of art - or gift one to KI/TJM - through our Silent Auction. All funds raised benefit Hazak. The silent auction continues in the museum gallery through December 31st. Be sure to bid on your favorite chair.

33 chairs were exhibited. Of those that were for sale (23) 15 sold from a low of $180 to a high of $1,500.

We took our inspiration from chairs in the Jewish tradition such as: Elijah's Chair, wedding chair, Bar/bat mitzvah chair, Seder chair, empty chair, Sukkah chair, mourning stool, Rabbinic chair, etc.

*Hazak is a fundraising initiative to help secure the financial future of the Keneseth Israel congregation.
