GARBOLOGY ~ CARL WEISSINGER

Garbology is the statistical study of our waste stream by anthropologists. It is done by collecting and sorting the trash from individual households. This data is then recorded so that inferences can be drawn from it. It also involves coring down into landfills. This is done so that we get a better idea of decomposition over time.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1949, Carl Weissinger attended Colgate University and the University of Pennsylvania. Forgoing an academic career, he set up shop as a fine cabinetmaker and plied that trade for forty years. He spends his retirement pasteling, reading and cooking for Face to Face a dining room for the disadvantaged in Germantown.
