Save the Date for our Book Discussion on Never Caught
Monday, April 4 at 7PM.
The Social Justice Committee will join with the Meyers Library for a book discussion of Never Caught, the story of George and Martha Washington’s slave, Ona Judge, who escaped from the President’s House in Philadelphia and fled to New Hampshire. Washington spent the rest of his life seeking to capture her. This book discussion will add complexity to the life of the President whose letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, RI, stated: “to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.”
Copies of the book are available in the Meyer’s Library.
