Celebrations

Next week, I will reach a huge milestone birthday!!!! When I came to KI, I was 30 years old. Next week I will be 50, and also this year we are celebrating our 20 years together. There is so much to celebrate and so many events and opportunities for you to participate in this joyous time at KI.  Here is the invitation and reply card soon to be in your mail box.

Numbers are significant in Judaism. “18” spelling the Hebrew word “chai” meaning “life.”  And there are even some texts on different age zones. Here is one from Pirkei Avot 5:21

At five years of age the study of Scripture;

At ten the study of Mishnah;

At thirteen subject to the commandments;

At fifteen the study of Talmud;

At eighteen the bridal canopy;

At twenty for pursuit [of livelihood];

At thirty the peak of strength;

At forty wisdom;

At fifty able to give counsel . . .

Since at 50 I can give you counsel- I will tell you- participate in our Spring Celebration honoring our 20 years together!  All joking aside, I am so honored to be on this journey with all of you, and I look forward to making more KI fabulous moments together.

In the Psalms it says “Teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.”  I know that my days being your cantor have been so blessed, filled with wisdom and joy. I pray to continue to share the gifts of my heart for many years to come!
